About the Object Manager The Object Manager is used to incorporate Multimedia News, Photo Gallery functionality, PDF files, Generic objects, and Flash components in TurnKey (TK). Clicking on the 'Object Manager' link in the administrator menu will open the Object Manager Administrator.

Images (Photo Gallery) It is important to notice that only images for use in the Photo Gallery should be uploaded through the Object Manager. If you want to insert images into page content, the ordinary content editor should be used. Click here to see how you insert images as a part of ordinary page content.
Opening the Image area in the Object Manager shows a list of the current conventional images that have been uploaded via the Object Manager.

Opening the PG section will show a tree structure of the image sets that have been uploaded into the Photo Gallery.
The tree structure has the form of the categories that have been defined in the PG administrator (see the manual section for the Photo Gallery for instructions on how to set up PG Categories). Clicking on the Add, "+", button within a PG category will start an image upload process similar to that of a standard image but with extra selections available for whether the image is to be a standard image, a Photo Gallery image set, or both.
If "standard" is chosen the image is placed in the images directory of the site in the same fashion as before. If "Photo Gallery" is selected the images are processed into set of images of various sizes as per the configuration defined in the PG administrator and placed in the relevant directory for that category. If both are selected both operations take place with the original image being placed in the Images directory as well as the image set being placed in its relevant category.
PDF Files PDF (Portable Document Format) is an open standard for electronic document distribution worldwide. PDF is a universal file format that preserves all of the fonts, formatting, colors, and graphics of any source document, regardless of the application and platform used to create it. PDF files are compact and viewed within a web browser or downloaded and printed exactly as intended by anyone with a free Adobe Acrobat Reader.
PDFs are an effective way to make copies of printed brochures and catalogues available online without incurring the production and distribution costs usually associated with printed collateral. Opening the PDF area in the Object Manager shows current PDFs.

- Click the standard "+" button will bring up a workflow window to upload a new PDF file.

- Click on 'Browse' to upload PDF files from your local computer, or from network drives in your network.

- Find the PDF file you want to upload, and click 'Open'.

- Give the PDF a name. This name will be visible for site visitors that access the file.
- Give the file a description.

The PDF file is now uploaded in the Object Manager. To insert the PDF to one of your pages, you need to use the editor. NOTE: If you are uploading several PDF files, it might be recommendable to upload all the PDFs in the Object Manager before you open the editor to insert them into pages (to save time).

- Place the cursor where you want to insert the PDF.
- Click on the 'Add object' button.

- Click on 'Test PDF' (the name of the PDF file you want to insert).

The PDF file will then display in a table with file name and description. An automatic link is also added to Adobe's web site for those who need to download Adobe Acrobat in order to read PDF files.
Multi-Media Objects Multi-Media Objects can be defined as "Audio", "Video" or "Multi", where an item has both audio and video within it. Once uploaded they become available in any object selector, such as the Editor and the Multi-media News Administrator and their type determines what HTML code will be placed into the edited content when an item is selected.
Opening the MMO area in the Object Manager shows current MMOs and the standard "+" button will bring up a workflow window to upload a new object. An object is defined in the workflow and chosen and uploaded from the user's machine. The new uploaded object is then visible in the Object Manager window.
NOTE: Multi-Media objects are uploaded to pages in the same way as you upload PDF files.
Generic Objects Generic objects are used for those files/objects you wish to upload that don’t correspond to one of the built in categories (Images, PDFs, Multi-Media or Flash). They are displayed on the web page as small tables, similar to the PDF option. The table includes a thumbnail (if uploaded), a label (linked to the actual file) and a description of the object.
Opening the Generic area in the Object Manager shows current Generic objects and the standard "+" button will bring up a workflow window to upload a new object. A generic object is defined in the workflow and chosen and uploaded from the user's machine. The new uploaded object is then visible in the Object Manager window.
NOTE: Generic objects are uploaded to pages in the same way as you upload PDF files.
Flash Objects Macromedia Flash objects (movie files with the swf extension), may be included in a web page to view in a web browser, or they may be played on a standalone player (see Flash players). The most common use is in animated advertisements on web pages, although prank flash has become common.
Flash objects are displayed on the web page as small tables, similar to the PDF option. The table includes a thumbnail (if uploaded), a label (linked to the actual file) and a description of the object.
Opening the Flash area in the Object Manager shows current Flash movies and the standard "+" button will bring up a workflow window to upload a new object. A Flash movie is defined in the workflow and chosen and uploaded from the user's machine. The new uploaded movie is then visible in the Object Manager window.
NOTE: Flash objects are uploaded to pages in the same way as you upload PDF files.
It is important to specify the height and width when creating the object. This will restrict its display size when placed in content. If you fail to specify height and width, the object will not display on the page.
