Using the Item Filter Clicking on the Item Filter dropdown list will display all available categories to filter on. Select one and the screen will reload with items in that category only:

Creating a News Item To create a new item (or edit an existing one) complete details on the following screen:

- Item Name is the Title of the News Item or Media Release.
- Description forms the short intro text that displays after the title on the website front end.
- Item type determines what the website visitor sees when they click 'more’ after the description. The item type can be set to 'LINK’ to another URL (page within your website or to another website), or can be set to 'CONTENT’ and content created using the DHTML editor.
- Published date can be used where a media release or news story is added to the site after it was released - in other words, content can be 'backdated’ to appear as if it had been released prior to actual date of publishing on the site. Unless otherwise specified, published date defaults to today’s date, and if no start date set, then published date is used as the start date for the item.
- Start and End dates can be set to pre-load and auto-archive content. Exercise care if setting arbitrary end dates for content. Determining all news items to be set to archive after one month is not a good idea if news is not always added sufficiently frequently to ensure there is always current news to display on your site.
- News Categories - check or uncheck boxes to set include an item in one or more news categories.
- Click Continue to finish.
