Managing Site Content

Why we call pages "items"
Elements in a TurnKey site are described as "items" rather than pages. This is because the site structure starts with menu items, which can be one of the following 3 types:

  1. Content - a conventional page.
  2. Link - the menu item links to a specified URL, either another page within your site, or to another website.
  3. Module - enables you to insert modules into the menu.

Editing Items - adding new content, updating existing content
You can add, edit or delete items from links on the Item Manager screen, by left-clicking the item name in the Item Manager screen.

From the Item Manager:

  • Left-click Item Name to edit 'Item Properties'.
  • Click on the 'e' button to edit content for the item.
  • Left-click any item, and you will see these options:

You can also browse your site in Preview Mode, and edit sites as you go.

  • Click on "GO TO PREVIEW MODE" to launch 'Preview Mode'.

  • Click e to edit Content for this page.
  • Click p to edit Item Properties for this page.
  • Click a for the Admin Main Menu.
  • Click for logout

Item Properties
The attributes of each item in your site are specified on the 'Item Properties' screen. This is where you can name and describe the item, set its type, set status, start and end dates.

The item name and description are important in that they are used to identify the item in a number of places. As well as identifying the item in the Admin sitemap, name and description are also used to describe pages in search results.

The item name should be short and descriptive, giving both website visitors and other admin users a clear indication of what the item is. The item description is displayed to users wherever the item is returned in a Search Result.
