The Main Admin Screen

| The Main Admin Screen | The Session Timer | Expanding the Site Map | Filtering the Site Map |

The Main Admin Screen
Once you have logged in successfully, you should see a screen like this one:

This is the 'Item Manager’ Screen. Depending on your admin access rights, and the modules enabled for your site, you may see different options in the menu tree and the top right-hand corner of your screen.

The Session Timer
In the top right-hand corner of the screen is a Session Timer - this indicates how much time is remaining in your current session. Every time you save an item, click continue, or launch a new action, the session timer resets for another 15 minutes. This is a security feature that logs you out after 15 minutes of inactivity, in case you walk away from your computer and forget to logout.

You will get a two minute warning before any session expires:

Please note - clicking OK does not reset the session timer, it only closes the alert box, you will need to click save or continue on your current page in order to reset the timer.

Expanding the Site Map
When you access admin for the first time, the default view will be the 'collapsed’ main menu. You can expand individual sections by clicking on the + icon adjacent to any menu item.

Note that this will only expand to a 'next child’ level - see example on the following page. If you want to see all children, grandchildren (and so on) below a parent item, you should click the Expand Sitemap option in the main menu. The fully expanded sitemap will take some time to load.

Expanding the entire sitemap will expand the active menu only i.e. display all pages in the Main Menu but not the Item Menu (or all pages in the Item Menu but not the Main Menu). Until you change your preferred view, i.e. close the site map, collapse a section or expand another section, the site remembers your settings so that the menu will open to the same view the next time you log on.

Filtering the Site Map
You can filter the items displayed in the site map to include or exclude items based on item type or status. Click 'ITEM FILTER’ in the miscellaneous section of the Admin Menu to launch the Item Filter screen. The filter is particularly useful if your site is a large one and you are an administrator wanting to review archived or hidden pages only.

To use item filtering, check the 'Item Filter - ON’ box, and then select the item type/s and status you want to display in your Item Manager view. At the end of your admin session it is a good idea to uncheck the 'Item Filter - ON’ box so that next time you come back to admin you see all items in the Item Manager.
